The township of Rolleston is located in the Central Queensland Highlands and lies 140 kilometres South-east of Emerald and 70 kilometres from Springsure.
Rolleston State School opened in 1871 in a small building in Warrijo St near the Comet River. In 1903 the school was moved to its current site and continues to provide a valued educational service to the rural community within the Bauhinia Shire.
Rolleston is the gateway to the magnificent Carnarvon Gorge and serves the many cattle properties and cropping farms of the surrounding area. The Rolleston Coal Mine is located 20 kilometres from the township and is now in full production.
